JOHNNY STOMPANATO was a GANGSTER hired by MOBSTER MICKEY COHEN as his personal ENFORCER.

Stompanato's GF was the lovely LANA TURNER.

While filming a movie in LONDON in 1959, rumours flew that LANA and SEAN were having an AFFAIR.

JOHNNY sped to LONDON with the express intent of KICKING Sean's ASS.

He pulled a GUN on SEAN on the set of "Another Time, Another Place.

CONNERY snatched the GUN out of STOMPANATO'S hand and gave him a SEVERE BEATING. So bad, in fact, that Johnny didn't wake up 'til he was on the PLANE back to AMERICA.

It does really underline the badassery of Sean Connery. That's for sure!

Yes, it does make Sean Connery look tough but let's not forget Stompanato met with a tragic death soon after that incident. Lana's teen daughter, apparently coming to the aid of her mother, stabbed Stompanato to death in their home. It seems to me Stompanato wasn't much of a gangster. He probably just knew how to slap around the women who had the bad judgement to get involved with him and to intimidate people who knew of and were afraid of his affiliations. Ever since I heard that story I said good riddance.
