Very good movie.
I saw this on Netflix. And was in amazement. I rarely get a chance to see African American classic movies (from the 50s and 60s). Please don't mention Blaxpoitation. lol
I thought this movie was fantastic, better than the original. There was a lot of overacting but it felt as if I was watching a Broadway play, which I really liked that aspect. I was also surprised by the "curse" words, I use quotes because they aren't really curse words especially by today's standards. Like the use of "hell" or "slut", I've must of have seen hundreds of classic movies from the 50s on TCM and I have never heard any profane language, I was shocked. Were race films considered more risque? Did they not have to go through the same censorship as the major blockbuster films did?
