Awful!

And unnecessary. Too long, too talky, extremely boring. Important characters from earlier movies are missing, things are unexplained. And Mickey Rooney has lost all traces of youthful cuteness and has a major case of Pig Face going on. (not to mention his very own offspring - ewww!). I sort of enjoyed the early Andy Hardy series - all that feverish energy and "let's put on a show!" rather entertaining to gawk at. But this thing, while probably providing some kind of closure to a True Fan, is hardly worth it.

This movie had several flashbacks from earlier movies. I don't know if it's cause so much as correlation, but I find movies that use this device tend to be disappointing. It's like a "remember when," digressing to old stories rather than building new.

Without a doubt the weakest film in the series, really an exercise in nostalgia more than a film...but I don't care, I'm glad they made it. I had alot emotionally invested in the Hardy family, and it's nice to see that in the end, everything worked out just fine. This was, for me, a much appreciated ending to a truly great work of the American movie industry. I’m grateful to all the creative people who worked on this series, who made something they can be very proud off, a love letter to an admittedly romanticised notion of small town American life, were people are honest and kind, and in the end, everything works out for the best. As corny as this sounds, I’ll cherish these films and the characters portrayed in them forever.

A waste of Sara Haden's talent, very few lines. They could have used her to better effect. As the former high school teacher at the town hall meeting, she could have made some speech.

It's hard to say what happens in these movies. Maybe she did have more lines, even a speech, but it was cut because it didn't work or they were running too long. Maybe she took the role to earn extra money, to reprise a role she'd played for so long, to work with old friends again, or because she was contractually obligated. Who knows. Everyone was used as they were needed.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. Like all the other Andy Hardy movies I've seen there were some good messages and a sense of continuity. This would be that era's version of a reality show. The family wasn't 'real' but the stories flowed well from one to the next. This final movie tied all the loose ends together. The flashbacks worked for me. They're similar to what we do in real life when we think back to recall a person, place or time. I loved it all!
