Any word on season 2?

Season 1 was released nearly a near ago. Has anyone heard when - or if - season 2 will be released?

If they ever do release it, it would be great if the bonus features included the two episodes of the TV series Trackdown that served as the pilot episodes of Wanted Dead or Alive.

reply

That would be a good Idea putting the Trackdown episodes on the DVDs I'm waiting for word on Season 2 I'm really hoping it'll be out this summer.

reply

I sent an e-mail to studio canal, the people behind the DVD release of season 1, but haven't received a reply...

It's fun for me, being 26, watching a tv show for the first time that both my parents grew up with.

reply

I wanted Season 2 out as well

Rest In Peace Steve McQueen 1930-1980 and Rest In Peace James Dean 1931-1955

reply

Any further word yet on the release of Season 2 of Wanted Dead or Alive? It is October 2006 and we still have not heard anything! Did Season 1 do badly in sales?

reply

I want Season 2 and 3 on DVD

reply

I've stumbled across a company called tvdvdplanet.com, and they have all 3 seasons as a package. They also seem to have complete runs of other classic series that haven't otherwise been released. Prices seem a little steep; does anyone know anything about this company?

You beat me to it. This is great news!

"BCI has plans to release the second season in late May/early June. NewLine released the first season in 2005, but didn't have interest in putting out the second season, so BCI has picked up the license."

I wonder why NewLine chose not to released season 2? Weaker than expected sales?

The Season Two set is up for pre-order on Amazon.com. The official release date is May 15, 2007.

I've seen it as well on Amazon. I am still waiting for an official release from www.tvshowsondvd.com. They always confirm the release date with the release company. It looks like there is a new company(Brentwood) re-releasing Season 1 and releasing Season 2 on May 15th. Hopefully Amazon is accurate. I loved the first season release.

reply

I went to Amazon to see if they had a shot of the cover art to volume 2. They didn't. While there, I noticed this below the title:

"Starring: Rutger Hauer"

Hauer stared in the 1980's movie sequel to the series. You'd think someone would check these things...

reply

Yes, I also noticed that they had the wrong star listed. I think this is a misprint by amazon. I emailed tvshowsondvd a few weeks ago. I asked them why they never made an offical post for the release date. They told me they did. They sent me a link I had already read. It said the series rights were bought by a new company and that season 2 was going to be released in May/June of 2007. That site usually gives an exact date when the release is coming. I have pre-ordered a copy set for release on May 15th from amazon. I will make another post when my order ships.

Less than a week before season 2 is to be released, we finally get a look at the box cover.

They also list one bonus feature - "The Women of Wanted Dead or Alive" documentary featurette"

reply

According to the press release, it will be out in July.

reply

Originally this was supposed to be released on May 15th. I have it on order from Amazon.com and they still have a release date of May 15th. I have a 2-day shipping set-up for this order and if it is available now, it should ship out by tomorrow. If not, it looks like the July 17th date will be correct.

reply

Season 2 - Available today 5/15/07.

reply

Does anyone know why the release date for season 2 was pushed back to July?

I just got a notice from Amazon.com that my Season 2 set has finally shipped. I was beginning to think that I would never see it!

cool. thanks for letting us know. (i've got one on order up here in canada)

post again when you get it. and let us know how good (or not) it is.

Got my S2 this past Tuesday. 32 eps on 4 DVD's. Same quality as S1- very good, great sound(unlike some other DVD's you don't have to crank the sound up during playback). So far I've only seen disc 1, and good stuff. Sure, some of the eps are a bit stinko, but it's tough to write a full, revolving storyline for a 1/2 hr show. But what really makes it shine, of course, is the star. Just like S1, Steve plays it cool and loose. If you love S1, and Steve's performances in movies like "The Great Escape" & "The Magnificent 7", you'll love this, as I do. Great stuff.

thanks for the review and info!

couple of questions: are ALL 32 episodes included? (some were never aired on LoneStar and i'm wondering if they're all available)

are they all in the original black & white? (Amazon lists this DVD as being in color)

do they all have the English subtitles? (which are captions for those of us who are deaf)

thanks!

The Season 2 set is very much like the Season 1 set. Picture and sound seem very good. The menu has been streamlined a bit, making it easier to use. On the down side, there is really only one special feature (which I haven't watched yet).

One thing I liked was the case. The DVDs in this set are in slim-cases that come in a box. It's easier to get the disks out. I didn't care much for the style of the Season 1 case.
