Llloyd Bridges saying 'Huh.'

I always enjoyed this show. I watched it as a kid when it originally aired. One thing about the show though that has always bothered me is that Lloyd Bridges had a bad habit of saying "huh" at the end of many of his sentences. As in: "Let's go diving, huh?", "maybe you should take some lessons, huh?" "Looks like a storm moving in, huh?" "I think we should use two tanks, huh?" Etc. etc etc. It gets quite annoying. To update: I was watching "Sea Hunt" early this morning (Feb. 23, 2012) on T.H.I.S. network and I counted Mr. Bridges saying "huh" at the end of a sentence 6 times within a ten minute span!

I noticed it also. I guess it was Bridges own speech pattern slipping into the script. He didn't do it too often that I could see but it was noticeable. Jimmy Stewart and Spencer Tracy had studdering that was their own speech impediment that didn't hurt their careers but added to it.

I always noticed it, but it never bothered me. Just a little idiosyncrasy of Bridges that made Nelson a bit more natural and real.

Didn't even NOTICED it... I was from NYC.and ... Mike was straight but hip and that's how one talked... . and every kid said 'huh'... just seem normal... nothing out of place.. but if you were from some cornfield farm i guess it would be noticible....

At the end of many episodes (in this case -- season 1, episode 15), after coming back from commercial and just before showing the end credits, he would look into the camera while standing at the helm and say, "Go below with us again next week, huh, for another thrilling adventure in Sea Hunt."

I had thought perhaps he was Canadian (as they end a lot of sentences with, "Eh?)--but he was born in California!

Doesn't bother me!

Huh?

"They sucked his brains out!"

Agreed - and a trademark speech trait if, indeed, minorly annoying. It's a bit of a cross between "huh?" & "eh?" and changes a declarative statement or line of dialogue into a bit of an interrogative, like "OK?" or "right?" (correct, or agreed).

"You take the Argonaut, eh?" -> "You take the Argonaut, OK?"
"The sea's a bit choppy, eh?" -> "The sea's a bit choppy, agreed?"

This likely was a Bridges manner-of-speaking in all venues, on-set & off. Will have to listen to other movies when the opportunity arises.

Also, Bridges, an early adopter of tight fitting knit golf type shirts, always had his collar up, like a coat collar in a cold breeze. What's with that ...?! It has kind of a cool look, but always, indoors & out? With Bridges in SEA HUNT, yes, that's how he wore'em!

No worse than "valley girl types" using the word 'like' 5 times in a sentence

Maybe Bridges wanted to emulate James Dean, who died in 1955. ----> https://bamfstyle.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/rwc3-main.jpg?w=400&h=601

I've been watching episodes on Youtube haven't heard "huh" once. Last episode at the end he just said "tune in one week from today". No "huh".
