Casting question

Why was actress Jan Harrison cast in so many episodes (at least 9)? She didn't play a recurring character and was always in a different role. Anyone know?

I've noticed maybe half a dozen actresses with multiple guest-starring roles. I've assumed since in the late 50s scuba diving wasn't yet a common sport, only so many pretty young actresses would be qualified.

There is also the factor that producers play favorites. Look how many times Leonard Nimoy guested.

I think it has something to do with budget costs. You couldn't get away with that today, hiring the same actors over and over. As long as they look hot in a swimsuit I don't care how many times they pop up.

The same can be said for Ken Drake (20+ episodes) and Courtney Brown, the diving supervisor. Saw Leonard Nimoy again last night for the 5th or 6th time. As the previous writer has said, I too am guessing that the casting department was limited by the number of actors/actresses that could dive. Interesting too to see both Jeff and Beau on the show with their dad.

And Leonard Nimoy was cast in 8 episodes and as different characters, too. Were they all friends? Neighbors?

I've seen Leonard Nimoy in Highway Patrol. In fact it was watching Highway Patrol that lead me to Sea Hunt, somebody mentioned it as another great show from the same production company.

Jack Webb hired the same people over and over again. Especially in Dragnet. But the Adam-12 leads both appeared as different characters in Dragnet first. One of the Emergency! doctors was in least two episodes of Dragnet, both times as bartenders involved with gambling rings. What I find interesting is the actor was married to Jack Webb's ex-wife, whom he also hired as the main nurse in Emergency. One of the fireman was a crook in Adam-12. When Jack Webb was around if he liked you you had a job.

In A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2000) Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin were always the same but all the other characters were recycled, being different characters in different episodes. You might see one actor murdered one week and the killer the next.
