Sea Hunt stunts

I refer mostly to the underwater stunts and, in specifics, those of Lloyd Bridges. In the bio for him I notice he didn't like the weight of his tanks for topside takes. It pointedly doesn't mention the underwater portions. These, I have it on good authority, were done by a stuntman known as Johnny Mac. He shouldn't be confused with the other persons listed with the IMDB, he was born in '28 if I recall correctly. This gentleman was a veteran of the Second and other various adventures and could, by any measure, pass for Lloyd's brother. It's kinda too bad that the hardworking stuntmen aren't listed with the IMDB as they really make many of our favorite stars seem tougher than they really are. Any thoughts or comments?

" It's kinda too bad that the hardworking stuntmen aren't listed with the IMDB ", awe, come on, IMBD's got it, look down this page, under stunts : http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0051311/combined . A "John McLaughlin" is listed, and he's a diver, maybe that's who you're talking about, even tho you say " He shouldn't be confused with the other persons listed with the IMDB, he was born in '28 if I recall correctly." It seems difficult to beleive, although not impossible, that "he was born in '28", as he would have been 17 in '45, kinda young to have been a WW2 vet. There's another interesting stuntman listed, that makes things sound a little more confused. Any thoughts or comments? Have fun !!

Part of the problem in finding out about stunt perfromers from old TV shows like "Sea Hunt" and "The Adventures of Superman," etc. is that there was no union requirement for a stunt performer credit, as there is today. Many times, an IMDb stunt listing for these older shows is based on someone's recollection, or on a sharp-eyed viewer actually recognizing the stunt person in question.

In these cases, one must view the information with a bit of wariness, as IMDb, like Wikipedia, is open to anyone with a computer to submit information. Some of what is posted is faulty for any number of reasons.

"...as he would have been 17 in '45, kinda young to have been a WW2 vet."

My dad was a WWII veteran at the age of 17. Not particularly unusual. This stuntman could have enlisted in early '45 and been in action long before the end of the war in August. For that matter, with his parents' signatures, he could have enlisted when he was 16.

According to the following link John was born on January 27, 1927. There is a photo of him and Lloyd Bridges standing together.
