Trying to Identify Cold War Era SciFi/Invasion Film

I was maybe eight when we saw it, pretty sure it isn't a Quatermass film (could be wrong) but have a high regard for fans of the series, figured I'd ask here. I am fairly certain the movie was made in Britain or Europe during the 50s or early 60s. Sadly we only had b/w TV back then so I cannot help narrow it down by whether or not it was in color, no recollection of who may have been in it either. We definitely saw it on television, we're talking 1975 or 1976, almost surely on Saturday afternoon Monster Movie Matinee (when we were supposed to be outside doing chores). Definitely set on Earth, lots of military hardware like trucks & soldiers, and people being chased across the countryside by either aliens or humans who were taken over by aliens, something like that. It also may have been set in Russia or Eastern Bloc Europe.

All I recall in specific is maybe two minutes of the very ending, after whatever alien menace has been exposed or confronted. A male character is comforting a surviving female character and says something to the extent of "Don't worry, General Zukhov and his Red Ants will finish them off."

Which is probably not what was actually said but is what my brain processed. I remember asking my older brother (who was 9 or 10) what "Red Ants" meant and his answer was along the lines of "Red Army, Russian soldiers." Pretty sure about that but have come up empty for years trying to nail it down. We got in trouble for watching it too so it's sort of stuck with me as a mystery to solve just to get to see the damn movie again.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers!
