Prime of Life (1963) ON NOW

It was obvious that someone in the payroll office was going to get shot. I was surprised at the graphic way it was done. I don't ever recall seeing anything like on TV DURING THAT ERA. I think that shot was ahead of its time. Wonder if the scensors had anything to say.

I agree , the way they showed the guy fly back upon impact i cant recall being done even on such violent shows as the Untouchables.

"Burst of Passion", "Face of The Enemy", and "A Case Study of Two Savages" are examples of other Naked City episodes that contain graphic killings.

I just watched 'Prime of Life' and I agree that the shooting in the payroll office is quite graphic-- and the shoot-out on the rooftop later is also graphic. Though arguably it had to be depicted as violently as possible, for him to warrant the death penalty.

I viewed 'A Case Study of Two Savages' yesterday and the climactic shoot-out at the bank seemed a bit phony. There is never any splattering of blood. It's obvious we have actors shooting blanks and some of the bystanders who are supposed to be hit do not go down when they should. So very little gore and loud sound effects is what we're getting.

That was pretty shocking. Overall, a very good episode, I thought, atypical of the series in featuring so many flashbacks, it worked in the end for me.

This episode was sufficient to sell me a boxed set on its own merits. Watching these different characters react to watching someone be executed had an impact you just don't see in today's television.
