Paul Burke's eyepatch !
I am currently going through Naked City and enjoying the series very much indeed (if ONLY modern TV was this good !!)
In the episode; 'The Apple Falls Not Far From The Tree' (Guest Star Keir Dullea, later of '2001 : A Space Odyssey' fame) I was surprised to see Paul Burke wearing a black 'eyepatch' over his right eye - making him look like a pirate !! - Lt. Mike Parker once refers to it saying; 'with your one good eye....' but otherwise it's not referred to....thus the assumption must be that Adam Flint either had got some kind of injury in the line of duty...
....or maybe Libby got mad at him & 'blacked his eye'! (LOL)
Does anyone know why Paul Burke wore the eyepatch ? (had he injured his eye, or maybe got an unsightly 'stye' at the time of filming - or something like that) thus the producers chose to simply 'cover it up'
- obviously it was only a temporary problem as Paul was fine later in the show & thereafter in all his other roles....
I just wondered if anyone knew the reason...?
I know Raymond Burr (in 'Perry Mason') had an arm injury in the original series, thus Perry also had his arm in a sling for a few episodes, and due to his ill health later sometimes had a walking stick in the colour TV movies (explained away as Perry recently having had a leg operation etc) and in a few episodes of 'Bonanza' Hoss Cartwright (and actor Dan Blocker) had an arm injury thus his arm was in a sling till he recovered
so maybe Paul had a temporary eye problem...so likewise did Det. Adam Flint ?
