Was That Godfrey Cambridge?

He's not listed in the full cast and crew, but the garage attendant who's gunned down in the first few minutes of this episode sure looks -- and especially sounds -- a lot like Godfrey Cambridge. (And the actor did make credited appearances in two other episodes of NC.)

What episode?

Sorry. Like lynxrufus says, it was "A Hole in the City".

I didn't realize these threads were at the series level instead of (as I mistakenly thought) related to the specific episode's page, which is where I opened it.

A person who's watched Naked City as much as I have might recognize "A Hole in the City" (season 2), a great (though violent) episode featuring Robert Duvall and Sylvia Sidney. A lot of people get killed in this episode. I don't know if the garage attendant was Godfrey Cambridge.

I know the episode. It is clearly and definitely him.

Godfrey Cambridge was not the only ethnic actor to appear in episodes of "Naked City" a lot of well known actors including Cicely Tyson, Hari Rhodes, Greg Morris,
and Ivan Dixon got their start on this series in different roles.

Nichelle Nichols played a bit part in one episode....YEARS before Star Trek.

Even Dorothy Dandridge was in one episode of Naked City as well Diahann Carroll.

Yeah, I spotted him too, and having just watched the "Death of Princes" episode where Peter Falk gets killed in something like the first three minutes, it made me wonder if some of this stuff wasn't inspiration for Leslie Nielsen's cop show where a famous guest star would always get bumped off during the intro. Godfrey is coincidentally in that Peter Falk one as well.

Re: Hole in the City- That had to be the most violent thing I've seen on any TV series from back then. I thought Gunsmoke had some rough scenes, but this probably rivals stuff well into the seventies.

PS- It's supposed to have Robert Blake and Martin Balsam in it too, but damn if I saw them. I even skimmed back through it and couldn't find them.

Blake and Balsam - in addition to Frank Sutton and Edward Asner - appear in the episode "From New York to LA".

That sounds good sessal-1. I'll keep an eye out for it. I'm happy to say I've got a whole bunch of these I haven't seen yet. I like pretty much all the ones I have seen, so I'm really looking forward to the rest.

By the way, I never realized how much stuff Asner was in before he was Lou Grant. He shows up in everything I watch these days.
