Carl Betz a happy camper for the length of the show...?

His character has always come across to me as just so darn irascible at times that I was just wondering if it was due to something besides what was written in the script for him...After all, eight years is a pretty long time for a series and he just seemed like someone who could have handled far meatier, dramatic roles (as he later took on in Judd For The Defense). Ironically, it's well known on the other hand that Robert Reed was very dissatisfied with his role in the Brady Bunch but you could never tell from his general demeanor on the show.
