Gilmore

The police contact in this series is Lt. Gilmore, played by Byron Keith. In Dragnet, Art Gilmore plays a series of police lieutenants and captains that Joe Friday reports to. They even look somewhat alike. I wonder if Keith's character was named Gilmore as a sort of inside joke. Art Gilmore was a very famous narrator, especially of movie trailers. The first regular episode Lovely Lady Pity Me, has a reference to Dragnet.

It's just one of those things you wonder about.
