Valet Pay

What Did Kookie Make As A Valet At The Time? He seemed to do ok socially and it would take cash to do that.

I'm sure it would be considered small change compared to today, but people forget to take into account what money was worth at different times in history.

My personal experience is that we married in 1971 with our total gross income at about 5 bucks/hr. Hard to believe but we lived ok and went out to eat and the movies on a regular basis. Belonged to a bowling league. Didn't live with the parents, either.

I'm sure the detectives helped him out financially, i.e., paid him for his assistance and legwork in their cases.

Also known as "under the table" meaning no taxes paid.
Possibly came from a "discretionary fund".

In the few episodes I've seen he's at the jobsite day and night.

He's pulling it in somewhere!

Ed Byrnes born in 1933 makes Kookie 83 in 2016.
Hope he's not still at the parking lot!!
