It's hilarious if you're really familiar with Airplane!, the parody/remake.

You're gonna need a bigger thread.

I didn't think "Zero Hour" was unintentionally funny, or even a "so bad that it's good" movie. However, it's now being packaged on DVD as a "cult camp classic." I do have to admit there were times in which I smiled or chuckled, because certian scenes and entire lines of dialogue were lifted from "Zero Hour" and parodied in "Airplane!" It's hard not to think of "Airplane!" while watching this movie! I almost expected the minor Johnny character to start making funny things out a piece of paper, but all "Zero Hour's" Johnny ever does is go get coffee when it's requested. You'll probably get the same thoughts if you watch "Zero Hour" after seeing "Airplane!" As for the movie itself, it was a rather enjoyable ride that produces some thrills along the way. It's a good 1950's piece, and it's in crisp black and white.

Zero Hour is super sincere. Not ironic. Irony became popular in the 1980s as people lost faith in traditions and innovations alike. Then camp became the thing. This is a sweet film from a simpler time with simpler stories and real heroes.

It's good to be "returning" to a time like that. This movie fits right in.

If you can forget about Airplane for the 80 or so minutes it takes to watch this picture, you won't be disappointed. Also, check out the TCM schedule. They will show it again, I'm sure.

I'm watching it right now!!!

It's on TCM this Friday, March 5, at 11:45 p.m. Airplane is being shown first, at 10, then Zero Hour follows right atferward.

BRING OUT SEASON THREE OF THE GREAT ONCE AND AGAIN ON DVD!

Zero Hour! was a very low budget movie that did suprising well. Even though it has big name stars, when the movie was made they were unknowns (except for Andrews.) Seen by it self, its a cut and paste B movie. But if seen right after Airplane!, its almost as funny as airplane becuase you can see where the spoofs come from.

The really big suprise is the movie was written by Arthur Hailey, better known as the author of the Airport movie.
