Dietrich was in her mid-50's when this was shot?

She looked amazing for her age.

I couldn't agree more. She was 55 at the time, I think, and however, looked wonderful in this, much better than most women in their 40s or even 30s! Her body was great, and I certainly do love that amazing face, that killer bone structure!

Sorry, but there are plenty of beautiful women in their fifties, even if you all are ageists. Seriously, grow up and look around sometime. There are also fat, wrinkled ugly women in their twenties if they smoke, over suntan, overeat, etc.

It's always amazing that kids think 50 is old and ugly. The ignorance of youth.

Nobody here said that Marlene was the only beautiful woman in her 50s. Sure, there must be many, especially celebrities, but it's way easier to look good at 50s, 60s or 70s nowadays. Barbara Eden is the most perfect example I can think of. She's nearly 80 now, and absolutely stunning. But it wasn't that easy 60 years ago, since esthetic surgery and such were not as advanced, available or easy to get.

Seriously, grow up and look around sometime.

Well, I ignore where you live, but it's definitely not the same around here. We don't have many Marlenes out there.

That was exactly my point, I mean, how remarkable is to look good at that age, since there were/are lots of people (men and women) 30 years younger that look terrible in comparison.

The ignorance of youth.

Sorry, but there are plenty of older people who happen to be as -or even more- ignorant. Being old doesn't make you instantly intelligent per se.

wow what a hostile comeback. and "Ageists". just brilliant.

Yes, some women are ugly and some are not. However MOST women get less appealing when they grow older, thus compared to an average 55 year old, she was good looking.

I was amazed when I saw she was in her 50s in this . Stunning woman!

reply

She used multiple techniques to appear younger, including somehow pulling her face back and using her hair to cover this? She was very self conscious about her age, but I agree, she looked stunning!!

reply

Whatever she did worked and worked much better than the cutting and snipping that is so popular among actresses today.

reply

It has been said that she knew everything about lighting herself in a movie to be seen to her best advantage.

She looked fantastic

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.

reply

Yes, she has always seemed to look very good and young in her films. Good genes, among other things.

reply

Indeed, I thought she was younger.

It is expected that a simple announcement of admiration being attacked. And I want to say that recording beauties like Marlene, giving filmmaking a good reason.

reply

She had a fantastic figure!
