NZ accent?

Why does no one have a NZ eccint?

It's a Hollywood movie so not entirely surprising. It does sound pretty queer, though.

The NZ accent in the 1940s, especially in the ideal, outside of the "cow cocky" back country, and in Christchurch, the most snobbily English part of NZ -- was very much more upper-crust English than it is today, with NZers having given themselves more and more licence to cut the colonial umbilical cord and develop their own sound.
