Superb, unrecognized classic

This was a superb film. Great dialogue, super screenplay. It’s an unrecognized classic. If not so rarely aired, I believe it would have its place among the classics.

The film has just been released on DVD by Warner Archive (January 2013). Maybe more people will appreciate it now.

I really enjoyed the story, but Robert Taylor's acting in this was deplorable.

It will be on TCM tonight at 10PM Central Time.

A wretched piece of swill. Performances are either deaden (Taylor) or over the top acting class exercises (Malone and Lord). If it were a few degrees worse, it could qualify as camp.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked the acting and found it a quality entertaining film. An 8/10.

I thought the film was quite good but not excellent. The section when the flight takes place seemed to be reworking a similar set-up in To Have And Have Not.

The one area of excellence for me was the wonderful Gia Scala who gave another highly emotional performance as she had done previously in The Garment Jungle. For me Gia Scala was by far the best element in the movie.
