Sometimes an ending that does not resolve the initial issue is fine, but that is mostly because the individuals come to grip with something even more important than the initial issue. I do not think this was the case in this film, which made it difficult for me to stomach it as felt cheated seeing all those awful things taking place without anything substantial to make up for it in the end.

Despite all their selfishness, we see no real consequences for the mother or the daughter.

The men, despite the fact they had done nothing wrong, are all left high and dry.

And there is no conclusion as to the financial solution.

In short, we don't know what happened. And I for one think it was rotten.
