Elmer Bernstein

Wonderful "New Yorky" score by Bernstein. A coupla years ago, I got some episodes of the short-lived TV show JOHNNY STACCATO, starring John Cassavetes (NBC, 1959-60). Bernstein wrote the music for the show and for the closing credits, recycled the music from SWEET's opening credits!

In grade school in the 70's we had to pick a composer and write a report on them, I picked Elmer Bernstein. I had always paid attention to music in movies and knew he had done tons of wonderful stuff. But I ended up doing a report on Schumann because the resources back then were not like today.
But you can read all about him now on the Interent.

The music is very similar to that of Johnny Staccato.

Spectacular score! And, one of the greatest openings in all of film. Bernstein's score, plus James Wong Howe cinematography combine to create one of the most memorable opening credit sequences ever!
