How did he go to the bathroom?

I'm sure this was too gross a subject matter for movies back then but, does anyone know what Lindy really did to relieve himself?

reply

Good question. I'm sure he had a bottle or a jar and dumped it out of the window.

The flight was mostly over water so.........

There would have been what's called a "relief tube", which could be pulled over to the pilot's crotch and which would drain out the bottom of the fuselage (although I don't know for certain about that specific aircraft).

reply

Yes, that is correct. I have read somewhere that Lindbergh said that's what he used. You can still buy them today to be used in light aircraft. The correct term is "pilot relief tube."

I'm pretty sure he used his ...um.... willy, and the other place, same as most of us do.

What I had in mind was boxing the compass.
