Another film not available in the USA

You would think that a film based on one of America's most renown playwrights masterpieces that also starred two of France's best actors (one of who won an Oscar) in highly regarded performances would be avaialbe in some manner in the USA, but you would be wrong.

If anyone know of a way for me to get a copy of this film with Enlgish subtitles, please drop a line. Thanks!

Thanks for the information, e-mlodik deux. I will check my local libraries (and eBay) to see if I can find a copy. My cable provider now carries TV5 Monde which occasionally airs classic French films so I will check there too.

I've sent an e-mail suggestion to Criterion that they put it in their pipeline. I'd suggest other interested parties do the same, and ask anyone that they can convince to do it as well. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky?

Go to Criterion and ask them to work on Satyajit Ray films, a good Kwaidan rerelease.

"Thanks to Arthur Miller himself, this great film will never be shown anywhere. Only thing left is an "cut to pieces" american edition on VHS, which can be bought at Amazon.com for a hell of a lot dollars! This is very sad and Miller is to blame. Shame on him!

petermedt9—I was wondering what the source for your information on this is? In an essay Miller wrote for Audience in 1972, he said the he enjoyed the film, He wasn't crazy about Sartre's Marxist slant, but he felt that it was a "strong film in its own right, and was glad that it existed.

"Those who remember the mistakes of history are condemned to watch others repeat them."
