I don't know how it is possible that I have missed seeing this movie before. Poitier and Hudson are excellent. It was great to see William Marshall in something other than the 'Blacula' movies. What a voice and commanding presence.
Very pleased to have run across this movie on TCM.
I first watched this show on TV when I was a kid in the late '50s or early '60s ("Saturday Night at the Movies"). I really did think that the day was going to come when we would all get along. One of the many disappointments of a hopeful but naïve young man, I suppose. It's a great show, and it still moves me close to tears.
