The Racist Bulldog

I was horrified at the racism exhibited by Sea Dog. Then he causes the death of the negro man who saved his life. I'm glad bulldog ended up miserable in a nursing home for the rest of his life!

Bulldog tells a black man trying to get off the sinkingship that he his a "Savage" and should go back to the jungle where he came from!

The sickening part was after the Negro purser saves the survivors by speaking Japanese and getting food and water for them. Then he cuts the bamboo to build a raft and collects food. Bulldog tries to abandon the negro on the island which leads him to being eaten by a shark! SICK!

I guess it goes to show how ingrain hatred is with some people. A lot of people may think if we all just spend more time together, have shared experiences, and step out of the structure of society, we'd all get along better and things would be different but, clearly, that's not the case.

Notice I didn't say anything about being racist. Bulldog's problem is he's a bad person. I don't think someone can be otherwise good and only happen to hate certain groups of people. That doesn't make sense. They must have hatred in their hearts. They treat certain people reasonably well because it serves their purposes but really these types hate everyone including themselves.

Seriously, what more could the guy have done? He saved his life, he got them all food and water, he found the machete that enabled them to build the raft but still the bulldog found reason to hate and mistreat him. There is no hope for some.

When he first got on the ship, he didn't care who had to be displaced so he could have a private room to himself. The only reason he didn't have the nuns and kids ejected is because it would probably have been too much of a hassle. The kids would have cried and too many others would have seen him for what he was. Maybe it was just the fact they had been in the room and no one was going to be able to clean it before he took it over. One never knows with these types.

People who are prejudice against any group, for whatever reason, always find an excuse. Notice how as soon as number four was attacked by the shark, he immediately blames him. He takes no responsibility at all. He was leaving the guy behind on the island with no machete, no hope for rescue, and no human companion but then has the nerve to blame him. When the raft was being built, if it couldn't accommodate four people they could have built it a little bigger. It's not like they didn't have ample materials. No, the guy was just a selfish, idiotic jerk.

Even when he tells Biscuit that Sea wife died on the boat that was for his own selfish purposes too. I sincerely doubt Sea wife would have asked him to lie on her behalf. I bet he never found out she was a nun. He just couldn't take seeing the ads Biscuit kept putting in the paper because it reminded him that he murdered someone and that he's just a despicable miserable slob.
