I live in Kyoto. I've often wondered where the officers' club shown in the film was located. It seems to be on top of Higashiyama near Gojo. Anyone in the know? There's also an outdoor dinner scene shot in nearly the same location.

According to a comment I read here on another thread, it is not in Japan at all, but rather a Japanese restaurant in Beverly Hills, California. And, the "filming locations" page for the movie gives the location as Yamashiro Restaurant - 1999 N. Sycamore Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.

I live about three minutes from Gion.
Strangely, the locations page doesn't list Kyoto. Red Button's house and the location of the fight scene outside it, over the Shirakawa river are about a minute from my house.
