Steiger's Irish Brogue......

A problem with some reviewers, given that so many southerners are of Scotch-Irish descent, his accent is not at all out of place......

Yeah, it's just that he's doing a sort of Norwegian-Pakistani accent. Run of the Arrow is a pretty decent film (and the opening sequence is typically superb), but it's hampered by the bittiness of the narrative and Steiger's weird voice.

I thought Steiger was miscast. His accent did seem to change from scene to scene but also the film didn't call for his method of acting. Fine actor but not here.

Steiger was great. None of the natives spoke any kind of native language either, so why even question his accent - it was supposed to identify him as Irish just like the attire and demeanour was supposed to identify Bronson's tribe as natives. Personally I see this movie not as an exercise in historical or linguistical accuracy, but just as means to tell a story and deliver a message.

I had no idea what his accent was supposed to be! I came here to find out.

What we got here is... failure to communicate!

His accent is clearly some kind of Irish. People need to bear in mind there isn't just one Irish accent, and the character was some time out of Ireland anyway, so whatever accent he might have had would have been muddled.

Steiger's performance in this film is strangely idiosyncratic. Possibly there is some kind of method acting at play and he has an internal storyline happening that seems bizarre at times to those of us watching. Not sure whether it is good or awful to be honest. It is certainly compelling, but then so is a car crash.

Just another awful Steiger performance. Most of the cast does a fine job, but Steiger, Flippen and Montiel are WAY out of place.
