So Elizabeth Taylor says she was "3 or 4" years old when the fire happened, and all of her descriptions of her actions at the time seem to "jive" with this...except the note which she supposedly left to tell her mother that the Cuban "black" woman (her real mother) and her father were in love. The note supposedly says something to the effect that they were in love signed "A concerned friend." What 3 or 4 year old could write such a note (and convincingly enough, yet, that the mother wouldn't recognize it as childish scrawl? What the...

She did not tell the truth about her age. She was really nine. Even though she thought the Cuban woman was her mother because she was her father's lover, it came out later through one of Susanna's slaves that this was not true.

Yes, that comes out when John is in Georgia and finds Jimmy hiding in the attic. Parthenia said that she assisted with Susanna's birth and confirmed that Mrs. Drake was indeed her mother. Susanna just wanted Henrietta to be her mother really badly, but she felt torn about that because Henrietta was a black Cuban.
