How daring were the Sheila shots ?

Near the end, at the village party, there are shots involving Sheila, the friendly village girl.

Those shots will show a bit under her skirt, from just the knees to quite higher.
Even a few frames during the dance reveal what must be black underwear.

How daring was this at the movie's time ?

I don't know how daring, but the film recieved an 'X' certificate in the UK, does that help?

British films at the time, and for some time later, were often more daring than Hollywood films were allowed to be in this respect.
