Mickey Rooney

I found Mickey Rooney's character in this film to be somewhat annoying. Anyone else?

reply

No, he didn't annoy me. I found him quite hilarious.

This from his own list of quotations:

Reportedly, Rooney kept cracking Lemmon up on the set. Leemon had trouble keeping a straight face during their scenes together.

I thought Mickey Rooney was really good in this. He worked well with Jack Lemmon and quirt1 is right. Jack had trouble keeping a straight face in his scenes with Rooney!

somewhat annoying

How 'bout VERY annoying? All that slangy bippity-boppity nonsense he was spouting quickly got on my nerves. I was thinking (actually, hoping) that the nurse they promised him for the final ball would turn out to be a plus-sized battle-axe of a woman. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way.

I love older movies and I must admit that unless he's with Judy Garland, I often find him one-dimensional and quite annoying. However, I found his cameo here quite enjoyable. It's short and sweet--just like his work should be.
