Okay, is there anyone who DIDN'T cry at the ending?

I first saw this as a little kid at grandma's, and I enjoyed it; I often stopped by repeaededly to rewatch it. But on the subject of the ending, I just did not cry. Sure I remember thinking it was sad, but it just didn't bother me too much. Anyone else feel the same?

My mom is the only one I know that didn't cry, but actually was glad the dog got shot (she hates dogs). Thanks to her, she also ruined the ending before my little girl watched it for the first time. Even so, my daughter still liked the movie & teared up when poor Yeller gets shot, but I think she was robbed thanks to grandma - I remember when I first saw it as a kid, I didn't know what was going to happen, if Yeller really had rabies or if he was going to live or not, and I think that makes it more of an emotional roller coaster & more fun not knowing what'll happen next.

I didn't feel any emotion at the end, but I guess I'm just de-sensitised. xD
Loved the film though.

I was...I think 19 when I saw it, and I didn't. I actually remember being more upset by the book's ending where they didn't wait to find out if Old Yeller was sick and John just shot him.

I didn't cry. But I also new about the ending before I saw. So every time I saw Old Yeller I knew he would eventually get shot.

I was a kid and balled my eyes out from crying so much.

As a 10-year-old watching the movie at its premiere, I must have been oddly resistant to being emotionally moved. I was just sort of numb, and a few weeks later I giggled at the sight of Grumpy crying at Snow White's wake. Decades later, as an adult and having experienced the loss of loved ones, it was very different. I saw Old Yeller again at age 39, a few weeks after my father's death. This time I briefly was numb when Travis pulled the trigger, but a few minutes later when he was having a heart-to-heart talk with his father, the tears just started gushing.
