A Beter Ending

The film? A masterpiece, of course. Fellini? A master of the art of cinema, of course. However, I feel as though it could have ended better.

Imagine this: At the end of the film, when Oscar and Cabiria are standing at the cliff overlooking the lake, they begin passionately kissing. Then, Oscar grabs Cabiria's money and pushes her off the cliff to her death. Oscar walks away. And... Fine!

The ending as it is now is perfect, she walks among the kids the music is playing in the background, she see's the happy kids walking and playing there instrument's she nodes left and right to varies people then she looks around then she looks at the camera and nodes with a vey simple smile. That seen alone put hope in your heart........

The ending is perfect.

By the way... Star Wars prequels suck!!

Why would you want it to end that way? So you can stroke your chin and say something like, "Oh, it's just like in the beginning"?

I like the ending the way it is - it is less sensational than your suggested ending, and very moving the way it is done.

My real name is Jeff

It might be a bit on the nose but I can see the appeal. I have problems with the existing ending though. After enduring such misery I've never felt her apparently sudden optimism is in character, or that the audience reprieve it represents is properly earned. It seems a little trite. Perhaps I fundamentally mis-read her but she comes off selfish and antagonistic to me. For her to have her heart lifted like that by smiling, singing children doesn't ring true.
