Mr. Bhansali would die if he read this! He claims it is an adaptation of the story - not a remake of this film! Remember Miracle Worker and Black? Here we go all over again!

Well.... its looks pretty damn similar... I dont know why Bollywood directors cant just admit when they do stuff like this.
One week to go. cant wait!

The streets, the bridges, the river, the mist with night lights - yet another beautiful rip off job.

Indian directors are lame and loosers most of all. They dont just rip off, but they somehow really manage to screw the movies.

I don't agree. Yes the story is usually the same in Bollywood films, but the camera work is often amazing, the combination of colors is breathtaking and the music and dancing are quite often fantastic. Even the bad films (like Mission Kashmir) are so bad that they are good, if you know what I mean. :-)

Sawaariya sucked.
they could have saved us at least an hour of the whole film.
then I never get this mix of indian and western culture. As if...

in the bollywood films i have seen as yet (and altough i gave a watch only to the ones praised as "the best" or "an of the best" by otherwise serious critics and in really independent reviwes etc.):

there is no camerawork at all that deserves to be mentioned

likeweis there is no acting

so please tell me what exactly do you mean.....tell a good title

all that made me think and wonder about what is the basis enabling a culture to make good pictures, what makes good acting possible?

i have no answers but a lot of fun wondering.....

You can start with a classical one like Pyaasa or Mother India or a newer one like Lagaan or Veer-Zaara, but be warned. Most Bollywood films are melodramatic. If you can't take melodrama then they will never be your cup of tea.
