warning on run time

TCM version (which has this listed as Your Past is Showing) has a run time of 92 minutes, but this is usually shown in TV guides in a time slot of 90 minutes, so if you are going to set your recorder to record it, you may need to adjust your recording times..

Unfortunately, we had a problem with this. We record everything using the DVR, and probably are at its mercy if there is an error such as you mention. At any rate, we didn't know about this ahead of time. While we were thrilled to find a new (to us) British comedy, we were mildly upset when the screen went into its freeze mode before the denouement. Would you be able to tell us how the plot played out? We are fanatic devotees of the Ealing or Ealing-type comedies. Thank you!

acc to TCM, it will be showing on Turner Classics again AUG 29...

Mad thanks. This comes on in a week and I undoubtedly would've missed the ending like just happened with Virginia City (though really I only watched that to see Bogart as a Mexican bandito).

If only I had come here and seen your post before I set my DVR to record the movie. :(

If you've seen this film yourself, could you tell me what happens at the end? It cut off when they were on the helicopter...

Well, the results came back - I definitely have breast cancer.

Strange as I have the ITV DVD and that is 88 mins?

Whats been cut out??

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice

reply

Nothing has been cut. PAL TV and Video runs movies at 25 frames per second instead of 24 (to match the 50Hz frequency). Thus films run shorter than in the cinema or on region 1 DVDs. All Blu-rays incidentally are 60Hz and run at the correct speed irrespective of region, relying on the electronics in modern TV's to convert the signal in the same way that modern TVs can play a region 1 DVD (if you have a multi region DVD player).

Because of the slopover problem with movies and sports, ALWAYS instruct your DVR to record the following program as well so you never miss a second of it. The transition from one slot to the next is seamless.
