A delight from beginning to end!

So much better than the original! Why isn't it on DVD?

I've wondered what's taking so long myself? Guess the studios prefer the 'original' version as well, seeing as how it's already made it's way to DVD.

Taylorje, Would you happen to know if the song that 'Victor' sang ('Lovely, Lovely, you are so lovely') is an 'actual' song? Thanks.

The original is by far the better film-try watching it again

I will never understand this argument, telling someone "watch [insert movie title] again, then you'll see what I see" like there is something they don't "get" because they aren't viewing it enough. Yes, a persons feelings can change over time, but personally if I wasn't enjoying it the first time, my feelings rarely change after subsequent viewings. Why would I want to subject myself to multiple viewings of something I disliked in the first place? The movie had its chance the first time I watched it to make me love it and it failed.

I could watch the original version of My Man Godfrey a thousand times over and still prefer the remake. Those who express their enjoyment of this version of the film doesn't take anything away from your own enjoyment of the original. I'm not sure why some take it so personally that a remake was made.

I like June Allyson and David Niven's chemistry and I think they worked well together in this film. The only negative that I saw was that June Allyson was a little too old to play the spoiled princess, but she still had great comedic timing.

MsMecca: Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't think it should be a matter of "better" or "not as good", as much as it is simply a matter of personal preference.

I just never could get into the original "My Man Godfrey", but I've always loved the remake. TCM had it on last night for the first time in years, and I enjoyed watching it all over again.

I truly wish this version would come out on DVD. "The Impossible Years" (also considered by many "experts" to be a bomb) came out on DVD a couple years back, so maybe there is hope for Niven's "My Man Godfrey", too.

Heck is where people go who don't believe in Gosh.
