It's surprising ...


... that the depicted escape of Charles II following his defeat at the Battle of Worcester hasn't been picked up for other cinematic treatments, as the real life story is quite fascinating. For some 6 weeks after the battle, Charles had to rely on his own wits and the loyalty of some Royalist families, to avoid capture. In doing so, he experienced immersion in a far more common life than have most other members of royalty throughout history and was always said to have had the common touch with his (later upon being restored) subjects.🐭
