First post....woo hoo?
Okay, if you bothered to read this, surely its not asking much to jot a few lines and tell us what you think of this film, hmm?
I liked it, even though its horrendously dubbed (esp. Jean Gabin's Jean Valjean, who sounds like he's on a mighty strong dosage of Valium the whole time).
Javert is my fave character, and the Inspector here is well-played and well-dressed, if a little one-dimensional. You can't have it all.
The Eponine character is by far the best here. Something about her...she really captures the "feel" I think Hugo was looking for when he penned her.
And the theme music is memorable and really rather good.
Now, I honestly wouldn't recommend this movie unless you were a die-hard fan in need for a little something different. When "Les Miz" was in its heyday -- after the concert video had been released and the Liam Neeson movie was coming out -- you could find this movie (for some odd reason sold on three VHS tapes) for like $5. So if you find it cheap, are a HUGE fan, and want a little something different, I'd recommend it.
