Did Clarence Kolb play himself? Or just another character coincidentally named the same?

He was playing himself - about 50 years after the fact.

You're quite welcome. Kolb really did have a partner named Max Dill and they did know Chaney before he hit Hollywood.

Quite alright, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I remember Kolb from when I was a little kid watching My Little Margie. They don't make them like that anymore.
