NBC Logo?

I have an old laserdisc of this film and I always wondered why the NBC logo appears before the Paramount opening. Well it seems that when the Colonel was negotiating what came to be known as Elvis' '68 comeback special he approached NBC (which aired it)about buying this film from Hal Wallis. They agreed to buy it for $650,000 and of course the good Colonel took a finder's fee for brokering the deal. I always wondered that whenever I saw this film on TV it was always on NBC. To those of you who own it on VHS or dvd does that NBC logo still appear?

"No! That’s not true at all. Elvis takes fifty percent of everything I earn." Col. Parker

Need to check, but I believe so... The DVD that came out in the UK back in 1999 was, I think, the first Elvis movie to be released on DVD and remains one of the best looking Presley flicks on that aged format. A Blu Ray release would look stellar, I think.

This certainly explains why Loving You was released on DVD in the U.S. by Lionsgate (in conjunction with NBC Home Video) instead of Paramount. The movie itself doesn't start with the NBC logo, though, only Paramount's, and the fine print on the DVD sleeve says it's exclusively licenced to NBC Enterprises, which makes me wonder if that agreement has an expiry date, especially now that the DVD is long out-of-print.
