Lizabeth Scott

This film was also my first and only exposure to Lizabeth Scott, who played Glenda, Deke's tough-as-nails agent. She had this smoky, Lauren Bacall-thing going that I found completely captivating. Scott's presence in this film definitely added some class to the proceedings and I hope to discover more of her film work someday. If anyone has any suggestions of other films of hers that might be of interest...

I would recommend any film by Scott. One of my favs is Too Late for Tears. Because of a scandal, her carrer was ended too early, but believe it or not she is still alive.

Her best film is now out on DVD: "The Strange Love Of Martha Ivers". That would be a good place to start. She was in one of Humphrey Bogart's worst movies, "Dead Reckoning". A lot of Bogart fans like this movie so don't be put off by my opinion. One of her rare movies is worth seeking: "Pitfall" with Dick Powell. In this film Raymond Burr plays a really disgusting character who lusts after Lizabeth Scott. But, as I said, the movie is now difficult to find.

"The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" is excellent! It's too bad Lizabeth Scott's career ground to a standstill after rumors of her lesbianism.

Dead Reckoning has its moments... It gets a bit daft in places, especially towards the end, but it's ok and the performances are good.

No offense, and sorry to be presumptuous to the previous poster, but if anyone thinks Dead Reckoning is one of Bogart's worst pictures, I'd say there's a good chance he's only seen the top third or so of his films.

You can probably eliminate twenty-five or so of the "top" Bogart films (except for Dead Reckoning) and leave the remaining fifty to choose from, and DR would easily rank in the top five. Yes, that would make DR one of the worst of the best of the Bogarts (so to speak!) in some people's opinions, but a LONG ways away from his worst! It would still be among his best!

As for Lizabeth, I think she was great in that film...along with "Strange Love of Martha Ivers." If you like her, you can't go wrong with those two.
