I don't know why it so few people seem to like this film - I thought it was really fun and I have watched it more than 20 times by now. But then again, David Niven is one of my favourite actors and I like Ava Gardner and Steward Granger too. Anyone else who liked the film?

it's so easy..so innocent and the whole part on the desert island is very funny. For those who love old silly but beautifull and romantic movies don't hesitate. I've seen it almost 10 times..I love it.
The posters for this movie are really fun. Besides the gorgeous pin-up art of Ava Gardner, the posters include several unique cartoons by Eldon Dedini and Whitney Darrow, Jr. (of New Yorker, Esquire & Playboy fame). Since the cartoons represent scenes from the movie, I doubt they ever appeared anywhere else.

shareI just saw it the other day and found it to be absolutely delightful. An underrated little gem of a film. A minor point perhaps, but Miss Gardner's Dior wardrobe was to die for!
shareIt was released, as usual, in Spain!! I bought it and found the quality very good indeed. You can find it listed for sale in eBay!! Unfortunately there are no extras, and only Spannish subtitles!! Enjoy it, although it is rather expensive, yet for hard-to-find-original it is worth it!!

This film is pure fluff ... why anybody would complain about it being unbelievable is beyond me ..of course it is ..totally... but just sit back and enjoy the three STARS!!! doing their thing ... just a gentle piece of total nonsense ...elegant and Ava is stunning in the Dior gowns.
It is a joy .... from the moment Niven's parents struggle to find him at the FO until the end.... BOOOLA
PS: the RN ship that "saves" them is HMS Dundas for those with a naval interest.
I like it too. Three very attractive actors and a silly plot, it was fun to watch and I thought the dialogue was clever. I had never even heard of this movie. Thanks to TCM for keeping these enjoyable little gems alive.
