er.....French?

I admittedly do love this film, but when watching it the other day, realised that although the leads speak the odd bit of French to the extras in the theatre or the street, and Barry speaks a bit to Angele when they first meet, when Angele and Pierre are alone they speak English, even though they are supposed to be French. How odd!

Movies were different back then. Hollywood made hundreds of films in which the characters would be speaking their native language in real life but all the actors speak English. Today, audiences are a bit more sophisticated and are willing to hear non-English dialogue with subtitles.

For example, if Dances With Wolves had been made 20 years earlier, it wouldn't have had long scenes of the Lakota Sioux Indians speaking their native tongue with English subtitles. Everyone would have spoken English!

All the universe or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?
