If you are looking for wisdom here, you are going to be disappointed.
The special effects were probably good for back then

It's on right now, and so so good. Nice and cheesy.
shareAn unpretentious movie, very by the book, which actually works in its favor. Some good stock footage early on, the usual shots of D.C., aircraft carriers, planes, military briefing rooms, all designed as much to make movie audiences feel secure during the Cold War period in which the picture was made as to tell a realistic story. Some corny humor on the level of the level of the TV series Dragnet. The movie's setting,--the Antarctic pre-historic jungle, complete with dinos--was offbeat and original; and the way the story was developed was pleasing in itself, with some genuine suspense, I found the movie loaded with charm, to which I should add for those who are fans of 50s sci-fi flicks.
shareI saw it!
I was traveling and turned on the TV and found MeTV... a channel that came and went in just a few months where I lived before...
and I discovered this strange but interesting movie. I'm also sad to say that I just discovered Svengoolie. I'm upset that I grew up in an area that didn't show good stuff like this. I just looked, his first episode was in 1970!!!! This show has been on my entire life and I just now saw it. I am repeatedly disappointed to learn how cut off from life I was growing up in Indiana... :}
So, I'll be checking into Svengoolie so that I can find even more movies like The Land Unknown! :)
I always loved Sven ! My state did the same thing last year and dropped the show, but I recently moved and was glad to see my new state has it :D The part in his show when he reviews the movie with a song is my favorite. It cracks me up every time
