Why Not Initially Land In LA?

Don't know all the details, but if the plot involved machine or cyborg aliens sending Kronos to earth, why not an immediate maximum test of Kronos versus the little bipeds? There should have been more films like Kronos(in terms of quality) in the 50s. Excellent movie!

They hit it with atomic bombs while on its path to new york. it had to land in the sea and recuperate for a while to absorb the initial blast energy. Besides, they didnt have the budged to destroy LA.

Makes sense about the recuperation time.

Maybe the initial attack was intended to fail, so that data collected from it could be used to prepare for the REAL attack, without giving the intended victims any significant cause for alarm. Hehe. Sounds like a good excuse for a sequel anyway. :)

No, seriously though if you think about it, there was no attack. All it was doing is collecting resources. When farm equipment is used to harvest potatoes, it's not an attack on the ants living underground. They weren't even considered in the plan. Likewise, it would seem plausable that a civilizarion totally alien to us, capable of creating mater from energy, and having such a different history and way of thinking that they never managed to develop nuclear power or nuclear weapons, might not have even considered whether or not our planet was inhabited... although the fact that control was supposedly taken of a human mind would indicate otherwise. Still... it would seem that their object was not to destroy but simply to take... like a thief. Destruction was simply not "avoided" in the process.

So why not Los Angeles first? Well... they did shoot at it. I mean there's no way of knowing whether or not it would have had any idea what part of the planet to attack first before it was shot at, but that shot may have had an effect on it's plans one way or another. More to the point though.... it was mentioned that the one which landed was a sort of a test... to see if more should be sent. Luckily for earth, the scientists found a way to stop it... using the very technology that it was mentioned we didn't have. :) Not likely the aliens who sent it saw THAT coming!

Yeah, I think Kronos' handlers were highly evolved and would have known from imagery where the cities were(more resources than in rural Mexico).

However, I agree with you. The aliens were prudent to be cautious. They probably knew we were adept at using radioactive materials.

again the nearest star to their planet would given them all the energy they needed
