Deborah Kerr

Did Deborah Kerr really have the voice of Suzy Parker? It didn't sound like that to me, and I see no reason why they would do it.

Well, it does seem odd, although the ever eliable IMDb says so.
I have just bought this movie (as part of a Cary Grant box set) so I shall have to listen to it carefully, and I will report back!

I would rather have had Suzy Parker's real voice. Why couldn't the studio changed her character to being more southern?

Sadly, Deborah Kerr is listed in the IMDB credits:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050599/fullcredits#cast

There should be a list of movies which have a lead's voice dubbed.

Mel Gibson had his voice dubbed over in the first Mad Max movie.

It should be "I can NOT care less."

Suzy Parker is absolutely not dubbed by Deborah Kerr. Miss Kerr had an extremely well-known and distinctive voice and was super popular at the time, the general public in 1957 would have noticed that immediately. I don't know who started this rumor but it is false. Yes it's on IMDb but that doesn't mean anything, until this last week they had the 1945-1952 Academy Awards listed as television broadcasts until I contacted the Contributor's page and let them know the ceremonies were never on television until 1953! (Was there even any tv broadcasting in America in 1945?)

Ms. Parker's incredibly flat reading of her lines more than proves an actress of the calibre of Ms. Kerr is not dubbing her and does the fact that she made a couple more pictures for Fox after this one; if they had decided to dub her for her first film they surely would have cancelled her contract and not used her again.

PS:~
I have just listened to Suzy Parker as a guest on a 60's "Whats My Line"(on YouTube),and she appears to have a quite pronounced (but pleasant) Southern accent.
Maybe the producer/director of "Kiss them for Me" didn't like it?
I cannot find an acting clip on YouTube yet to confirm my idea.

Interesting that she sounds Southern. Parker was from New Jersey.

Well,I HAVE listened (very carefully) to Suzy Parker's voice on the DVD,and can safely say it isn't hers.
Yes,it DOES sound like Deborah Kerr,so (for whatever reason) I think Parkers voice WAS dubbed.

I love Suzy Parker in Ten North Frederick and I can categorically state that it is her voice in Kiss Them For Me. They might have had her redub some of her own lines since this was her first movie, but it's definitely her voice.
