This movie is very funny. As a Chaplin fan, I didn't see it for a long time as I had read many books that claimed this movie was not good..on par with Laurel & Hardy's Utopia or later Marx brothers films. But this film is hilarious and very timely. Chaplin was the best there was.
Action Is everything!
I always found this movie to be one of his best, granted I love just about everything Chaplin had done but something about 'A king in New York' always tickled my fancy.

I watched half yesterday and taped the rest and watched today. An excellent movie. CC was very good as an actor and director. I like him better when he was older rather than his young (silent) movies.
I wish TCM would show more of his later movies (even this one again).
This movie is VERY underrated. Granted, technically speaking AKINY is the weakest of all Chaplin feature films (with the exception of "A Countess from Hong Kong"). But the message of the movie is quite relevant even today, plus the man could still make you laugh out loud.
