Did anyone ever find Norman Wisdom funny? (Albanians excepted)

This movie was recently shown on UK TV and I just watched it to be again agog at the sheer stupidity and childishness of Norman Wisdom's films. In fact, when I watched them originally at age 10 or so in the 1950s I found them stupid then - good grief, there was Tony Hancock on the radio! The Albanians can have him. Yes, he's right there with Jerry Lewis, popular in France, I believe.

I find him laugh out loud funny, hilarious....his childishness/naivety make it funnier, especially in a conformist, conservative environment. You either like him or you don't....

Thanks Pitkin! RIP

I'm 21, I find them hilarious.

I hope that you have been enjoying them on Saturday mornings very recently on BBC2 I think as I howl in exasperation in the gym on my cycle. Not sure if they are still on, but last time I flicked through they had gone from black and white to colour. Not sure whether that improved them any.

I have all of Normans films on DVD and I watch them regularly! I prefer to watch them in black and white, I think it would just come down to personal preference. I always find that it depends on what you saw it in first, I watched them all in black and white first and cant go back. Same with Laurel & Hardy.

I will never tire of Norman Wisdoms films, my dad had me watching them with him when I was a boy and one day, when I have a son he will watch them with me. I think those films are timeless.

Thanks for that. I'm glad you like them. I like Seinfeld, Frasier and similar but so what (?) it's just personal preference.
I can't help thinking that I wished your dad had played you some old Tony Hancock recordings (TV or radio).
