Doris Day was offered Helen Morgan, but she turned down the role. Too bad, it would have given her the chance to act opposite Paul Newman. Day also turned down "The Jazz Singer," (Danny Thomas) with Peggy Lee landing the female lead.
shareI had just read that she had turned down another role too because it really didn't fit her image at the time. I don't really care because Ann is great in this film. I love it and I don't know if I would like it as much with anyone else.
