is not part of this noir western, but odd casting is. At the time this was made Joe Cotten was only 2 years younger than Ward Bond who played his father. Viveca Lindfors was a Swede playing a mixed race gal. The director was a very serviceable guy with westerns having helmed and co produced many Rifleman episodes. Not w/o interest, but a tad unreal in the casting department. The musical score though is fabulous and haunting.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

I agree, not a bad film but casting somebody younger than Joseph Cotten might have been a good idea.

The way I see it, is that we weren't retreating, we were just attacking in a new direction.
