Why did she leave him
Was wondering why she really left him was it for greener pastures or what. and what happened to the little girl.

shareAlthough not totally spelled out - it seemed to me (on second viewing) that Luigi (mentioned sparingly) got her pregnant (the baby in one of the last scenes) and left her soon after, which is why she runs after him at the end. So, she left him because she was pregnant with someone else's child.
shareCould you elaborate a bit more because you say she left him but then runs after him in the end. was she trying to get back with him? Or was she apologizing/explaining, was it the lover she was chasing and what happened to the little girl. I am looking for this film but don't mind being spoiled since i will watch anyway.
shareThe girl is with the mother. The ending is ambiguous...she may have been trying to get back with him...he may have not have wanted to die...but as the rest of the film shows us, a relationship where one person loves the other more is rather doomed anyway.
shareKind of .. I guess. It is not spelled out, but she is with a newborn, no man in sight, Rosina back (which is not what I think Luigi would have wanted). And she runs out, immediately, trying to catch up with Aldo. Very unlikely, once you think hard, if she was in the same mood in which he / she left her / him. So she is probably still very much in love with him, doesn't know yet what to say.
I agree with another poster further down, that the reason for his fall is unclear. Is it suicide, or trying to 'approach' Irma? We'll never know.
