an inappropriate subject

This movie was shown frequently on American TV in the late 50s, early 60s. However, following the rash of real assassinations in the 1960s, the subject matter of the movie caused it to be shunted aside for 40 years lest it cause offense. I could never find a copy of it until fairly recently and, even then, I think it was a bootleg. Alastair Sim was drier than a martini with no vermouth. "She was my fiancee!"
